The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, held on September 14, 2025, brought record-setting wins and groundbreaking firsts across television’s top categories.
Apple TV+ comedy The Studio was the evening’s biggest winner, claiming 13 trophies — the most ever won by a comedy series in a single season. Its victories included Best Comedy Series, Best Comedy Actor, and awards for both directing and writing.
Netflix’s Adolescence topped the limited series category with six awards. The series earned Best Limited Series, Best Actor for Stephen Graham, Best Supporting Actor for 15-year-old Owen Cooper, and recognition for its writing and directing. Cooper’s win made him the youngest actor in history to claim the supporting category for a limited series.
In drama, The Pitt was named Best Drama Series, with Noah Wyle winning Best Drama Actor for his role in the show.
Several individual performances also stood out. Jean Smart won Best Actress in a Comedy for Hacks, marking her fourth career Emmy in that category. Britt Lower earned Best Actress in a Drama Series for Severance, while Tramell Tillman made history as the first Black actor to win Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, also for Severance. Cristin Milioti won Best Actress in a Limited Series for The Penguin, and Erin Doherty took home Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for Adolescence.
Beyond the scripted categories, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert secured Best Talk Series, a meaningful win as the show recently concluded its run.
The 2025 ceremony underscored a transformative year for television, with multiple records broken and fresh milestones achieved across genres.
