Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Debuts as Marvel Opens Ticket Sales

Marvel Studios unveiled the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday on Monday, revealing Robert Downey Jr.'s debut as Doctor Doom while bringing together heroes from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe and legacy Marvel film franchises. The trailer features returning Avengers alongside characters from the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts and the X-Men, setting the stage for a multiverse conflict that marks one of Marvel's largest ensemble productions since Avengers: Endgame. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and is scheduled for release in theaters on Dec. 18.

The trailer's release coincided with the opening of advance ticket sales and Marvel's rollout of Infinity Vision, a Disney certification for premium large-format theaters designed to highlight enhanced presentation standards. The initiative comes as the studio prepares for competition during the holiday box office, with Avengers: Doomsday sharing its release date with Warner Bros.' Dune: Part Three. Infinity Vision is intended to promote participating premium auditoriums as an alternative in markets where the film will have limited access to IMAX screens.

Avengers: Doomsday represents a pivotal release for Marvel Studios as it continues its Phase Six slate following several years of mixed box office performance. The film reunites many of the franchise's established characters while introducing Doctor Doom as its central antagonist, replacing earlier plans centered on Kang the Conqueror after the studio shifted the direction of its long-term storyline. Industry analysts view the production as one of the year's biggest theatrical releases, with Marvel hoping the crossover event will reinvigorate interest in the interconnected superhero franchise ahead of the planned sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, in 2027.
