R&B singer D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez in Los Angeles. Prosecutors allege the teen was killed in April 2025, with her remains discovered months later in the trunk of a Tesla linked to the artist.
Authorities say the case includes additional charges such as sexual abuse of a minor and mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors further allege that the killing was intended to silence the victim and prevent exposure of an alleged relationship that could have harmed Burke’s career.

Investigators described the case as particularly severe, citing evidence collected over several months. The inclusion of special circumstances in the charges means Burke could face the death penalty if convicted.
Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently being held without bail. His legal team has rejected the allegations and stated that he intends to fight the case vigorously in court.
The case has sent shockwaves through the music industry, where D4vd had been gaining prominence. Legal proceedings are expected to continue as authorities prepare for a preliminary hearing.
