'Godzilla' Actress Kaylee Hottle Dies at 18 in Maryland Crash

Kaylee Hottle, the actress best known for portraying Jia in Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, died Tuesday after a single-vehicle crash in Frederick County, Maryland, authorities said. She was 18. According to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office, Hottle was a passenger in a Honda Accord that left the roadway and struck a culvert in the early morning hours. She was flown to a trauma center, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities said excessive speed is believed to have been a contributing factor, and the crash remains under investigation.

Born into a multigenerational deaf family and raised in Texas, Hottle was a native user of American Sign Language and became one of the most recognizable young deaf performers in mainstream film.
