Floodwaters Recede in Central Texas as Search for Missing Continues

Emergency crews in Central Texas are continuing recovery operations after severe flooding caused by days of heavy rainfall. As water levels gradually recede, officials have shifted focus to search and recovery efforts, particularly in areas where people were reported missing.

Among the hardest-hit locations is Camp Mystic, a private summer camp near Hunt, Texas, where several people were swept away by the Guadalupe River when it overflowed its banks earlier this week. Search teams, including specialized dive units and canine teams, are working along the riverbanks and nearby areas to locate the missing individuals. As of Saturday, multiple fatalities have been confirmed, and at least two girls remain unaccounted for.

The recent storms dumped several inches of rain across central and southern parts of the state, triggering flash floods that inundated roadways, damaged homes, and forced numerous water rescues. Authorities have urged residents to avoid traveling in affected areas and to heed ongoing flood warnings.

Emergency management officials are coordinating with state and local agencies to provide assistance to impacted communities. While the flood threat is decreasing in some regions, additional rainfall could complicate recovery efforts in the coming days.
