ICE Field Office Dallas, TX
On September 24, 2025, a gunman carried out an armed attack on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas, Texas. Federal authorities described the incident as a targeted act of violence against law enforcement.
The shooter fired from a rooftop across from the ICE facility, directing shots at the building and a transport van. Three detainees were hit. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were hospitalized in critical condition. The suspect was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No ICE personnel were reported injured.
Authorities identified the gunman as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn. An unused bullet found at the site was inscribed with the words “ANTI-ICE.” Officials say the evidence indicates an ideological motive, and the FBI is investigating the case as targeted violence. The suspect had prior arrests but no known public ties to organized political groups.
The Department of Homeland Security condemned the attack, describing it as a deliberate strike against ICE operations. Texas Governor Greg Abbott denounced the shooting, offered state support to investigators, and said immigration enforcement in Texas would not be disrupted. Other state and federal leaders expressed condolences and called for calm in public discourse while stressing the need to safeguard federal personnel.
The Dallas ICE facility had been targeted earlier in August 2025 when a man was arrested after making a false bomb threat. Officials note that the incident is part of a broader pattern of threats and violence directed at immigration enforcement facilities in Texas. Security experts and advocates are warning that heated political rhetoric may be contributing to such attacks and are urging stronger safeguards.
