The scandal first erupted when Mandelson, a major figure in Labour politics, was revealed to have longstanding connections with Epstein, the disgraced US financier and convicted sex offender. New disclosures suggested that Mandelson may have shared sensitive government information with Epstein during his time in public office — raising grave questions about vetting and judgment.
