A woman police officer has been found dead inside a San Fernando municipal station after an overnight breach that left the firearms vault emptied, sparking urgent national security concerns.
Police secure the municipal station in San Fernando following the killing of an officer and theft of firearms.
A major security crisis is unfolding in San Fernando after a municipal police station at Kings Wharf was breached overnight, leaving a female officer dead and a cache of weapons missing. The discovery was made in the early hours of April 19, 2026, when officers arriving for duty found the station compromised and the officer unresponsive inside.
The deceased has been identified as Acting Corporal Anusha Eversley. Initial reports indicate she was last seen around 11 p.m. on April 18. When officers returned to the charge room area shortly after 4:40 a.m., they noticed the area in darkness and observed signs of blood leading from the quarters. A further search revealed her body inside the station.
In a deeply alarming development, the station’s firearms vault—also referred to as the strong room—was found open and completely emptied. Investigators say a quantity of shotguns, pistols, an M&P rifle, and significant amounts of ammunition are missing, raising fears about the potential use of these weapons in criminal activity.
Police units responded to the scene and secured the compound, with homicide investigators and senior officers launching a full-scale probe. Authorities are working to establish how the breach occurred, whether the suspect or suspects had inside assistance, and the exact sequence of events leading to the officer’s death.
The station remains cordoned off as investigators probe a major security breach and homicide.
The incident has triggered widespread concern about security protocols within police facilities across Trinidad and Tobago. Officials have described the situation as a serious breach with national implications, as efforts intensify to locate the stolen firearms and identify those responsible.
Investigations remain ongoing.
