Leading up to President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro's capture, the United States military carried out numerous deadly strikes in the Caribbean on Venezuelan boats for which they deemed drugs vessels that were taking their payload to the United States. There was also the Central Intelligence Agency strike (CIA) on a Venezuelan port that was said by U.S. Officials to be a drug storage facility and the seizure of Venezuelan oil tankers by the U.S.
Now, in the aftermath of the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, the question posed by many is what's next? The U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. will oversee the running of Venezuela, as statement echoed by the Secretary of State Marco Rubio, this despite the appointment of Delcy Rodríguez as the in-term leader of the South American country.
What is known about oil-rich Venezuela is that there are divided sentiments about the subsequent arrest of Maduro and his appearance in a U.S. Court and with the U.S. Senate recently voting to curtail President Trump engaging in military action against Venezuela, what should Venezuelans expect?
It's against this backdrop that we see a move by the Trump administration affirming their intentions by meeting with oil producers in regard to Venezuelan Oil. This development leaves one to ponder about the end game.
