Steely Dan: Jazz-Rock Perfectionists
Steely Dan: Jazz-Rock Perfectionists
Formed in 1971 by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen at Bard College in New York, Steely Dan became renowned for their sophisticated blend of jazz, rock, and pop. Their debut album, Can't Buy a Thrill (1972), introduced hits like "Reelin' In the Years" and "Do It Again." By 1977, Aja became their commercial zenith, showcasing intricate arrangements and top-tier session musicians. After disbanding in 1981, they reunited in 1993, releasing Two Against Nature (2000), which won four Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. Following Becker's passing in 2017, Fagen continued touring with a talented ensemble, preserving their legacy of polished, irony-laden music.
