Her final episode of “Mornings with Maria” aired that morning, while her other programs, including “Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street” and “Sunday Morning Futures,” are being rebranded or assigned new hosts. Fox said “Mornings with Maria” will become “Mornings with FOX Business” with rotating anchors, while “Sunday Morning Futures” will temporarily be hosted by Jason Chaffetz.

The circumstances behind the abrupt departure remain disputed. The Los Angeles Times reported that Bartiromo had become a source of legal and editorial difficulties for Fox, including controversies surrounding statements made on her programs, and that sharing internal Fox messages with the Trump White House may have been a breaking point. She has been named in defamation litigation involving Fox's coverage of the 2020 election, including the $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems and a separate Smartmatic lawsuit that remains unresolved. Fox has not confirmed that the alleged disclosure of internal communications caused her dismissal.
