New AP-NORC polling shows President Donald Trump’s overall approval rating holding steady, even as Americans remain sharply divided over his handling of Iran and persistent concerns about the economy. The findings come as the administration continues diplomatic efforts with Tehran and faces ongoing scrutiny over inflation and foreign policy decisions.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s approval rating has remained largely unchanged in recent AP-NORC polling, underscoring a period of political stability even as his administration navigates high-stakes negotiations with Iran and continued economic dissatisfaction among voters. The latest AP-NORC survey conducted June 11–17 found Trump’s overall approval at about 37%, consistent with previous months, while roughly six in 10 Americans continue to disapprove of his job performance. The results reflect a broader pattern in which Trump’s support has remained relatively fixed since early 2026 despite major international developments.
The poll shows Americans are most divided over foreign policy, particularly the administration’s approach to Iran following a recently announced framework agreement aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and restarting nuclear negotiations. About two-thirds of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of Iran, while Republicans remain largely supportive of his strategy. Separate AP-NORC findings also indicate that trust in the president’s decisions on the use of military force remains limited, with majorities expressing concern about escalation risks in the region. At the same time, a majority of respondents say they remain worried about Iran’s nuclear ambitions, even as they question the administration’s approach to managing the conflict.
Economic concerns continue to shape public opinion, with only about one-third of Americans approving of Trump’s handling of the economy. Inflation and cost-of-living pressures remain among the most frequently cited issues across demographic groups, including independents and some Republicans, who have shown declining confidence compared with earlier in Trump’s term. While immigration remains a relative strength for the administration in public polling, economic dissatisfaction has kept overall approval ratings near historically low levels for a modern presidency, according to AP-NORC trend data.
