Freedom briefly stepped onto the court and was subsequently escorted from the arena. Cloud did not speak to reporters after the game, while Sky coach Tyler Marsh said the team supported her actions.

The confrontation comes amid a growing dispute surrounding transgender participation in women's sports that has recently involved several WNBA figures. Freedom has publicly identified himself as a woman and declared himself eligible for the WNBA draft, while Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has expressed opposition to transgender women competing in women's sports.
