The New York Knicks secured the 2026 NBA championship on Saturday night, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 to claim the series four games to one and end a title drought that stretched back to 1973.
Jalen Brunson delivered the defining performance of the Finals, scoring 45 points as New York rallied from another double-digit deficit. The veteran guard's scoring surge in the closing stages helped the Knicks overcome a Spurs team that had controlled much of the game and held significant leads throughout the series.
The championship run was marked by New York's resilience. The Knicks repeatedly recovered from large deficits during the Finals, including a record-setting comeback in Game 4 that put them one win away from the title.
