On July 13, 2025, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Chelsea secured their second FIFA Club World Cup crown by defeating European rivals Paris Saint-Germain 3–0.
English forward Cole Palmer was instrumental in the triumph, scoring twice and assisting João Pedro’s goal, all within the first half. The match remained scoreless in the second half, with Chelsea preserving a clean sheet.
The 2025 edition marked the first time two European teams contested the final, and Chelsea became the first club from England to win the competition twice.
Manager Enzo Maresca attributed the result to an aggressive, high-press strategy designed to keep PSG’s attack off balance, particularly in challenging New Jersey weather conditions.
Midfielder Levi Colwill described the Club World Cup as “the biggest trophy” he has won and suggested it could rival the Champions League in significance. Th Following their triumph, Chelsea players will don the official “world champions” badge on their shirts for the next four years.
The final also featured tense late-game moments: PSG’s João Neves was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct, and post-match, a notable altercation occurred among PSG’s coach and a Chelsea player, involving a push by PSG’s manager.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump presented the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James, noting that a replica was used in the ceremony while the original remains at the White House.
This victory comes on the heels of Chelsea’s strong 2024–25 campaign, which included securing a spot in the Premier League’s top four and capturing the UEFA Conference League title.
