Pakistan defeated West Indies by eight wickets in the second Test in Port of Spain to level the two-match series and secure their first away Test victory in three years. The result ended Pakistan’s eight-match losing streak in overseas Tests and marked a strong return for captain Babar Azam after resuming leadership duties

Pakistan chased down a target of 75 runs on the fourth day at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, reaching victory with two wickets down to draw the series 1-1. Abdullah Shafique played a key role in the match, scoring an unbeaten 160 in Pakistan’s first innings, while Babar Azam contributed with an important 88-run innings as the visitors built a first-innings advantage.

West Indies had taken control early after posting 344 in their first innings, led by contributions from Justin Greaves and Roston Chase, but Pakistan responded with a total of 387 to take a crucial lead. Pakistan’s spinners then restricted the hosts to 117 in their second innings, leaving a manageable target that was completed without major difficulty.

The victory was Pakistan’s first overseas Test win since defeating Sri Lanka in 2023 and ended a difficult run away from home. The series draw continued a recent pattern between the two teams, with their previous three Test series also ending level, while both sides continue their campaigns in the ICC World Test Championship cycle.
