Atlassian is cutting about 1,600 jobs as it shifts resources toward artificial-intelligence development.
Australian software company Atlassian has announced plans to cut approximately 1,600 jobs, representing around 10 percent of its global workforce, as it accelerates investment in artificial intelligence.
The restructuring is part of a broader strategy to focus more heavily on AI-driven products and enterprise services. The layoffs will affect employees in several regions, including North America, Australia and India.
Chief executive Mike Cannon-Brookes said the company’s shift toward artificial intelligence is changing the types of roles required within the organization, emphasizing that new skills will be needed as AI technologies reshape the software industry.
The decision reflects a wider trend across the technology sector, where companies are reorganizing operations and investing heavily in AI infrastructure and automation.
While the layoffs have raised concerns about job losses in the tech industry, analysts say many firms are prioritizing long-term investments in artificial intelligence as competition intensifies.
