Kit Connor Reportedly Set to Play Cyclops in X-Men Reboot

Marvel Studios is reportedly moving forward with casting Kit Connor as Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, in its upcoming X-Men reboot. The casting marks a major step in Marvel’s plans to introduce a new generation of mutant characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Cyclops is one of the founding members and leaders of the X-Men in Marvel Comics.
Connor, best known for his role as Nick Nelson in the Netflix series Heartstopper, is reportedly being lined up to portray Cyclops in Marvel Studios’ new X-Men film. The character of Scott Summers is one of the most important figures in X-Men history, serving as the field leader of the mutant team and a central figure in the comics since the group’s debut in 1963.
The upcoming X-Men reboot is expected to introduce a fresh version of the mutant team after Marvel Studios regained control of the franchise following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. Director Jake Schreier, who previously worked on Marvel’s Thunderbolts, is attached to the project, which is expected to help establish the next era of mutant stories within the MCU following major multiverse events.
Cyclops has previously been portrayed on screen by James Marsden in the original X-Men film series, while the character is also expected to appear in Avengers: Doomsday as part of Marvel’s use of legacy X-Men characters. Connor’s reported casting signals Marvel’s effort to rebuild the franchise around younger actors as the studio prepares for a new chapter focused on the X-Men and mutant mythology.
