Walmart Recalls Pistachio Nut Butter Over Salmonella Risk

A pistachio nut butter sold exclusively at Walmart has been recalled after testing found possible Salmonella contamination. The recall affects a specific batch distributed across multiple U.S. states, with no illnesses reported at the time of the announcement.

Botticelli Foods has issued a voluntary recall of Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter after routine testing identified Salmonella in samples of the product. The affected item is sold in 6.7-ounce glass jars with a specific lot code and expiration date of January 2027, and was distributed through Walmart stores in 19 states.
The contamination concern was identified during testing conducted by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which detected Salmonella in three jars. Health officials said no illnesses linked to the product have been reported, but consumers who purchased the recalled batch have been advised not to eat it and to return it to Walmart for a refund or dispose of the product.
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause foodborne illness, with symptoms including fever, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Food recalls involving potential bacterial contamination are part of ongoing food safety monitoring efforts by manufacturers, retailers and federal regulators to remove potentially harmful products from circulation.
