Attorney Faris Al-Rawi said his clients—businessman Dominic Hadeed, his wife Genevieve Hadeed and 69-year-old Star Sabga—are not engaged in a conflict with the Government but are focused on restoring their reputations after being detained over allegations of a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and other Cabinet members. Speaking at a media conference on Tuesday, Al-Rawi said the three deny any criminal wrongdoing and have never previously faced criminal proceedings.

Al-Rawi said Sabga was released from the Women's Prison at Golden Grove late Monday and placed under house arrest at her Westmoorings residence after a High Court judge ordered her conditional release pending the hearing of her constitutional challenge. He noted that while the State initially secured a temporary stay to facilitate an appeal, it did not seek a further stay during case management proceedings before the Court of Appeal. The appeal is scheduled to be heard on September 14.
