Police are investigating two separate double killings in Trinidad that left four men dead within hours of each other. The incidents in Fyzabad and Arima have prompted homicide investigations, with suspects being sought in the Fyzabad case and no motive yet established in the Arima shooting.
Police investigate the scene of a double killing in Fyzabad following an afternoon altercation.
Two men died after being attacked during an altercation in Fyzabad on Friday afternoon, police said. The victims were identified as 38-year-old Richard McDavid, a labourer from Julai Trace, Fyzabad, and 30-year-old Anslem Nicholas, a labourer from Easy Street, Fyzabad. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. along Delhi Road near Kings Car Wash, where the men were reportedly involved in an altercation with three Hispanic men. Police are seeking the three men as part of the investigation.
In a separate incident early Saturday, two men were shot dead in central Arima. Police said a report of a shooting was received around 2:43 a.m. near Farfan Street, close to the corner of Queen and Farfan streets. The victims were identified as 47-year-old Keith Benjamin Spencer and Junior Castillo, also known as “Roti,” of Heights of Guanapo. According to police, the men were at a bar when a vehicle arrived and gunmen opened fire. One man was killed at the location, while the other attempted to flee but was pursued and shot. Officers from the Arima Police Station responded with a district medical officer, who declared both men dead at the scene.
The two incidents are being investigated separately by police, with authorities continuing efforts to determine the circumstances and motives behind the killings. The Arima shooting occurred in the borough's commercial center, where businesses and vendors resumed activity later Saturday morning. Security cameras were present near the scene, while homicide officers continued inquiries. The deaths add to the country's ongoing homicide total and come amid continued concerns over gun violence in Trinidad and Tobago.
