The boys are believed to be students of a secondary school in Sangre Grande and were recorded fighting outside another school on Ojoe Road on Monday afternoon. Video of the incident circulated on social media, prompting concern about student violence at the start of the academic year. Police said the students were summoned to the school with their parents and issued suspension notices by the principal.

During the seven-day suspension, the students are expected to attend the Sangre Grande Suspension Centre under the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service's Community Policing Youth Development Programme. The programme is intended to provide supervised activities focused on restorative measures, rehabilitation and conflict resolution. Police also confirmed that a report was made and that school-oriented police officers are assigned to the school, while officers from the Community-Oriented Policing Section are investigating the incident.
