Plans for Joint Army-Police Posts in Carli Bay, Plymouth

Plans are moving ahead to establish 30 joint army-police security posts, with Carli Bay and Plymouth among communities being considered for additional security facilities. The initiative is part of the government's broader response to violent crime and is being rolled out while officials consult communities about proposed locations.
Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander has said the joint posts are being launched as the government expands the security presence in communities across Trinidad and Tobago. The plan, announced by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, calls for 30 posts to be established over four months, with proposed sites including major road intersections, transport corridors and communities. Carli Bay is under consideration for a police post, while residents in Plymouth are expected to be consulted about a proposed joint security facility. The government has said the initiative is intended to strengthen the presence of police and military personnel and improve security in areas where communities have called for greater protection.
The rollout comes during an ongoing State of Emergency and as authorities seek to expand the government's response to crime. The proposed network includes sites such as the Tarouba Flyover, Grand Bazaar Interchange, Couva Interchange, Eddie Hart Grounds, Felicity, Lady Young Road and Golconda Interchange, while six additional locations were still being determined when the broader plan was announced. The government has encouraged community groups, businesses and local authorities to work with security agencies on the initiative. The focus on consultation in communities such as Plymouth also indicates that some proposed locations remain subject to discussions before facilities are established.
