Vinícius Júnior rescued a point for Brazil with a first-half equaliser after Morocco struck first in their Group C opener, as both sides began their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaigns with a draw in New York New Jersey.

Brazil began their World Cup 2026 journey with a 1–1 draw against Morocco in their Group C opener in New York New Jersey. Morocco took the lead in the first half through Ismael Saibari after capitalising on defensive space, putting early pressure on the five-time champions.

Vinícius Júnior levelled the match before halftime with a well-placed finish to restore parity for Brazil. Despite improved control in the second half, neither side was able to find a winning goal, leaving both teams with a point after their opening fixture.
