Turkey secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over the United States in their final Group D match at the FIFA World Cup 2026, with a stoppage-time goal deciding a tightly contested encounter in Los Angeles.
The United States opened the scoring early through Auston Trusty, but Turkey responded with goals from Arda Güler and Barış Alper Yılmaz to take a 2-1 lead before halftime. The US equalised shortly after the break when Sebastian Berhalter finished from close range following sustained pressure.
With the match heading toward a draw, Turkey struck in stoppage time as Kaan Ayhan scored the decisive goal to seal a 3-2 win. Despite the result, the United States had already secured top spot in the group and progressed to the Round of 32.
