Germany Blames Russia for Leipzig Airport Drone Attack

German authorities said an explosives-laden drone was discovered near a Ukrainian cargo aircraft at Leipzig/Halle Airport on Aug. 4. The device failed to detonate and was subsequently defused, but German officials said the incident represented a serious security threat at an airport that serves as an important freight hub and logistics facility. Germany's government said investigators identified characteristics of the drone, its components and explosives that matched methods previously associated with Russian hybrid operations.
