A 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been announced amid intensifying Iran-linked regional conflict, ongoing military operations, and fragile diplomatic efforts involving the United States and other global powers.
The Israel–Lebanon border remains tense despite a newly announced 10-day ceasefire.
A major diplomatic breakthrough has emerged in the ongoing Iran-linked Middle East conflict, as U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, marking the most significant de-escalation effort since the war expanded across multiple fronts.
According to statements confirmed across multiple international outlets, the ceasefire is set to begin within hours and follows direct U.S.-brokered negotiations involving senior officials from Washington, Israel, and Lebanon. Trump described the agreement as part of broader efforts to “end the cycle of war” and said he expects continued talks aimed at a more permanent settlement.
U.S.-led negotiations helped secure the 10-day ceasefire agreement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Israel’s participation in the ceasefire framework but stressed that Israel’s military objectives against Hezbollah remain unchanged, particularly regarding the group’s disarmament in southern Lebanon. Lebanese officials, meanwhile, welcomed the pause in fighting, citing urgent humanitarian needs as civilian displacement continues to rise.
However, tensions remain extremely high across the wider region. Reports indicate that the broader U.S.–Iran conflict continues to escalate, with ongoing naval enforcement operations in the Strait of Hormuz and sustained military pressure on Iranian-linked assets. Diplomatic backchannels, including Pakistan-mediated talks, are still attempting to prevent further escalation.
Wider Iran-linked tensions continue to disrupt regional security and global energy routes.
At the same time, political tensions are rising in Washington, where a narrowly divided U.S. House vote rejected efforts to limit presidential war powers over Iran operations, highlighting deep domestic disagreement over the conflict’s legality and direction.
