US threatens to maintain Iran naval blockade indefinitely

The United States is prepared to maintain its naval blockade of Iran indefinitely as stalled ceasefire efforts and disruptions to global oil supplies deepen pressure on both sides. Reuters reported that global oil supply is forecast to decline by about 4.3 million barrels per day this year, while attacks and disruptions involving Iran, Gulf states and Iran-backed groups have added further risks to energy markets. The United States' decision to prepare for an open-ended blockade comes as Washington and Tehran remain divided over how to end the conflict and restore normal shipping through the region.
