The U.S. State Department will issue special passports featuring President Donald Trump as part of celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary.
Mockup of commemorative U.S. passport featuring Donald Trump
The U.S. State Department has announced it will release a limited-edition passport featuring an image of Donald Trump, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026.
The commemorative passports will include a portrait of Trump on an interior page, accompanied by imagery from the United States Declaration of Independence and the American flag. His signature will also appear in gold as part of the design.
Officials say the passports are part of broader “America250” celebrations tied to the nation’s founding. Only a limited number—expected to be available around July 4, 2026—will be issued, primarily through the Washington passport agency.

The State Department emphasized that the special passports will retain all standard security features and cost the same as regular passports. Americans who prefer not to receive the commemorative version can still apply for a standard passport through other channels.
The move is notable because it marks the first time a sitting U.S. president’s image will appear inside a passport, reflecting a broader effort by the administration to incorporate Trump’s likeness into official materials tied to the anniversary.
Supporters describe the initiative as a patriotic tribute to the country’s milestone birthday, while critics argue it further blurs the line between national symbols and political branding.
