Spurs Continue Mastery of Defending Champion Thunder With Another Convincing Win
By Aurax Desk | December 24, 2025
The San Antonio Spurs continued their strong start to the NBA season on Dec. 23, 2025, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 130-110 in a home matchup. This marked the second victory over the Thunder in a 10-day span, underscoring San Antonio’s effectiveness against last season’s title winners. The Thunder entered the game as defending NBA champions but have struggled at times this season with multiple losses.
Off the bench, Keldon Johnson scored 25 points and Stephon Castle added 24, helping the Spurs build and maintain a lead that stretched in the fourth quarter. Victor Wembanyama also contributed 12 points after missing time with a calf injury, though his streak of 101 consecutive games with at least one block was snapped. Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led his team with 33 points, with Jalen Williams contributing 17, but the Thunder were unable to close the gap late.
The Spurs’ win capped a seven-game winning streak and lifted their overall record, positioning them near the top of the Western Conference standings. The Thunder have lost three of their last five games after a strong 24-1 start to the season. The teams were scheduled to meet again in Oklahoma City on Christmas Day.
